Sporting Life Preview

Duran Fentiman gets on well with Lilac Lace and was on board when she won this a year ago. Tim Easterby's filly hasn't won again but has dropped to a lowly mark as a consequence and looked on the way back at Redcar last week. She's one to note but on a point of handicapping her stablemate AZAGAL (NAP) is impossible to oppose. She went to Leicester last week for a Class 2 handicap and was racing from a mark 9lb wrong in the weights yet managed to finish third behind Suzi's Connoisseur. While it's best not to take the form literally she has to be the selection running from her correct mark. Lady Frances has the form to go well, though she's best on fast ground and Polytrack. Dusky Queen is at her best on good going over this trip so if the ground dries out she's one to keep on the right side as is Danehill Revival, who makes her handicap debut having raced in Listed company.

Oddschecker Verdict

DANEHILL REVIVAL was unable to challenge in a Listed race when encountering a sounder surface for the first time, but prior to that she had performed creditably with cut underfoot, and the drop into handicaps is expected to help her chances with conditions likely to suit. Lilac Lace, who run from 7lb out of the handicap, landed a race over C&D on this card 12 months ago from an 8lb higher mark than she competes from here and hinted that she was back to near her best when just touched off at Redcar recently. Lady Frances ran well in defeat at Newmarket but may need conditions to improve, although her dam acted on easier surfaces.

Prediction: 1st Danehill Revival, 2nd Lilac Lace, 3rd Lady Frances
